“It was a great day trip! Our guide Soula was amazing and told us a lot about the history of all the places we visited. Our driver Nikos was very experienced and handled the narrow streets like a pro! We drove around the Lasithi Plateau and had some nice stops for pictures. The tour through the olive oil factory was also very interesting. There are two different tours, one including Knossos Palace and one without (check the description of the tours). We booked the one without but we were able to change it on the day and also go to the palace. It was great to go there with an…”

8.Road-trip to Lasithi, Zeus Cave, Vidiani, Krasi & Olive Mill Farm

★★★★★★★★★★4.0 · 79 reviews · 10 to 11 hours (approx.) · from $48

Spend 10 to 11 hours exploring eastern Crete by air-conditioned coach. Hear stories from guides such as Tanya and Helena, visit Vidiani Monastery and Zeus Cave, stop in Krasi, then taste olive oil and honey at a mountain farm. Expect a steep cave walk, a €15 entrance fee, and lunch at extra cost.

“This is a very large group tour and there are two monasteries and a very touristy stop at a shop selling olive oil and wine. Kids loved the pottery class though and it is a safe clean way to go to the cave which was the main reason we had taken it. It’s a beautiful drive but it took 10 hours total given multiple pick ups and drops - and the monasteries and olive tree stop were extra hours we wish we had just been able to skip.”

“How delicious every dish was. We made 5 different pastas and the flavors of each was unique and so flavorful. The tour of the olive press was quite informative. What it takes to get such high quality EVOO is amazing. So much so that we bought a dozen bottles. And don’t forget Alina’s 6 year old niece. She was so serous in her pasta making, we know who will carry on the business in the next generation. BTW, come veeery hungry.”

Ride from Seville to an Andalusian olive farm, walk among the trees, see pressing and quality control, then taste several extra virgin oils with a local guide. Basilippo is often used, though the farm may change. Hotel pickup, transport, and tasting are included.

“The description showed a 15 min drive out of town with a 3.5 hr tour. Which appealed to me. I received a call evening before the tour to tell me they’re using a new, modern farm but it’s 1.5 drive each way with a 1.5 hour tour and tasting. The facility is very nice however it’s much too long of a drive for such a short tour. More driving than tour! The farm was a quick tour of the outside and mostly inside. Beautiful building with nice place to eat as well (but this wasn’t included nor was there time to eat, instead we were stopped at some cafe next…”
